In Pursuit of Molly (Book 1 Cián O’Connor) By Alyssa Bailey

In Pursuit of Molly (Book 1 Cián O’Connor) By Alyssa Bailey

He’d waited long enough. It was now or never.

Blurb:

Molly Rasher had been obsessed with Cián O’Connor from the day she met the preoccupied veterinarian student. She was still dreaming of his toned body and serious demeanor when she finished college but he had only nodded and smiled in passing. With no further contact, it seemed her sexy dreams would have to find another star, until he walked into the clinic’s front door, reigniting her passions.

Cián was more than half-way through his training to be a veterinarian. Finally, he could afford to pursue his angel. Molly’s endearing, shy smile had tantalized him for almost two years and now the opportunity to be with her fell into his lap, he was going to grab it with both hands. He prayed she was ready for him because he’d learned if you wanted something bad enough, you held on tight until you got it. No matter the cost.

Here’s your nurse.”

He had evidently called the nurse when she began to wake up because the nice-looking caregiver brought in water and was a bit too cheerful. “I’m Robert. Now, how are you feeling?

“If I said Mack truck. Would that be enough of a descriptor?”

He chuckled. “Just what I expected to hear. Has your body guard told you what happened?”

“My?” She tried to smile but it hurt. “Got it. He is kind of handy and no, we haven’t gotten that far yet.”

“Okay, first tell me how much you remember.”

The nurse walked around taking readings, checking vitals, and monitoring machines. When he was done, he added another bag of fluids. “Are you still thinking? Can you remember anything?”

She opened her mouth but Cián stopped her from speaking and said, “Molly, you need to try to remember but don’t tell anyone until you speak to the sheriff. He should be the first one that you tell your memories to. They will never be as accurate as in the first retelling.”

“Sir, I understand you are her watchdog friend, and I appreciate your concern, but we need to know she hasn’t any amnesia.”

“And I know you do that by a few questions.” The tone brooked no arguments.

“Look, if you’re going to impede my job, you’re going to have to leave.”

Cián held onto Molly’s hand and stood up, showing his full height and build. Molly’s heart swelled. He was the most handsome man she had ever known. And big. She knew he came from a large family and if they were all this imposing when defied, the intimidation factor when they were together would be impressive. The factor would rise exponentially if in protective mode. She shivered at the picture her imagination created.

He’d been the center of her lust since that first time she met him. This was a side of Cián she’d only had an inkling of before today. He was protecting her from whatever he thought was a threat, just as he’d promised. She would be content to sit back and let her man take care of her, as he expected.

“Robert, just a little background on me,” Cián began. “I have a large immediate family with friends as close as family. They include several physicians, a sheriff, a policeman, a nurse, a handful of lawyers, a federal agent, a trauma therapist, a psychologist, and a whole slew of ranchers who are all volunteer firemen. I’m a veterinarian. As you can see, I am intelligent and do understand this issue. How about we try this again. She will do the standard orientation questions, but any details of her experience will first be heard by law enforcement.”

The look on the nurse’s face told the story of his thoughts. Cián wasn’t sure, but he thought the man narrowed his eyes. Not the standard response for a nurse who shouldn’t take offense to a patient not disclosing the events prior to informing law enforcement. In fact, his sisters would have stopped the patient from speaking until they had the sheriff’s department in the room. No, he was right in stopping the disclosure and might even mention the oddity to the deputies.

Two men in uniform appeared at the door as Molly patted Cián’s hand to calm him.

“I’ll tell the doctor she was uncooperative.”

Molly’s sharp intake of fearful breath raised his hackles. “You do that, and I’ll file a complaint with the nursing board and this hospital’s administrator. I tell you, Robert, I’m an easy-going guy unless someone messes with me or mine. Let’s not go there. She’s waiting for the sheriff’s office.”

Author Bio-Alyssa Bailey

USA Today best-selling author, Alyssa Bailey, is a dyed in the wool Texan living amongst the beauty of Southeast Alaska. She lives where the sky meets the rainforest on the mountains; the mountains touch the ocean, and the wildlife frolic on land, sea, and air. Humans, the ultimate interlopers, are wedged in where allowed and are properly thankful for the privilege.

Alyssa loves writing romance for the naughty in all of us. She writes power exchanges between strong, intelligent, sassy women who are not afraid to make a stand and men confident enough to give his woman space, but Alpha enough to keep her safe despite her choices.

If she can throw a little mystery, humor, and suspense in her stories, it’s even better. Her characters predominately live in Regency England, Ireland, and Scotland amongst lords and ladies, in the Contemporary Realm amongst men and women of the world, and of course, hard-working Cowboys and fiercely romantic Native Americans.
